Hike and Bike Trails Connect You to the McAllen Area Outdoors
The area surrounding Bentsen Palm features over 10 miles of well-designed hike and bike trails that allow homeowners and visitors to connect with nature. These trails are popular attractions, as they provide an opportunity to observe the area’s many species of birds and wildlife. The trail starts at the World Birding Center Headquarters parking lot at Bentsen-Rio Grande State Park. It then passes through the entrance of Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, along Retama Village and Tanglewood, and past beautiful South Texas farmland. After crossing a new bridge over the Mission Main Canal, the trail continues for a mile and a half between the canal and scenic native habitat, offering ideal opportunities for wildlife and bird watching. Finally, the trail winds through South Texas brush and prairie before ending at the Mission Nature Park.
